An unlikely iron canister
Became home to us all.

Precious drops of water
Filled the vessel just so. . .

Pulled taut, elk hide
Swallowed its surface.

Precious stones, like grommets,
Guided nylon cording into place.

Boots and hands interlacing
Prayers of intent.

Ancient and modern elements
Coexisting. Reweaving Past from

Present: Spirits Descending,
Coaxing sound from silence.

Mesmerized, dazed, we drift
Out and out to worlds beyond.

Sweet cedar specks sparkle
Like a galaxy of stars.

An unlikely iron canister
Became home to us all.
