Vittoria da ColonnaTimeline (1492 - 1547)
|
|
Vittoria da Colonna was a close friend of Michelangelo and benefactress to many poets and artists of the Italian Renaissance. When her husband died in 1525, she retired to live mostly in convents, writing poems on religion and spiritual experience. Mourning the loss of her husband, her poetry often called out to the absent beloved -- husband, lover and, ultimately, God. |
