Haude Gosain was a Baul of Bengal. The Bauls are a fascinating and often unorthodox mixture: part traveling musician and poet, part holy man. Rejecting sectarianism, their way of life and worship dances somewhere on the margin between Hinduism, Islam, with elements of Bengali Tantra.

Haude Gosain was born to a Brahman family and was schooled in Sanskrit and the traditions of Vishnu worship, before becoming a Baul.
