Empty Dawn

Themes
  Dawn
  Death
  Heart
  Pain and Wounding

Why again
the mask?
Why do you
disappear
into the crowd?

I know you
have emptied
my pockets
while I dreamed.

It is dawn,
and you are not by my side.

You have taken
everything —
but not me!
Why wound
and not kill?

Was not
the blade
you brought
for this heart?

It is dawn,
and still
I draw breath.

I am crazy with the taste
of blood.
Beguiler! Thief!
I will corner you
in some dark alleyway.

No more half measures;
you will have to
kill me
this time.

It is dawn,
and it is just another
sunrise.

Why am I
not already lost
in you?
