Lodro Gyatso (also known by his title Chone Lama Rinpoche) was born in northeastern Tibet.

He is greatly respected for his spiritual poetry and especially for a verse commentary on "In Praise of Dependent Origination," a classic Buddhist text by Tsongkhapa.

Not much is known for certain about his life. Apparently, Lodro Gyatso entered monastic life as a boy of nine and eventually held the abbotship of several monasteries. Some of his songs suggest he also spent extensive periods living as a solitary hermit.
