Jamal whose name means "Glory"
Courted Jalal, daughter of Miharai, The King of the Angelic Beings Who lives on the summit of Mount Quaf Jamal, your name means Beauty And I search for you For you continually haunt me Through all the myriad birds on The Tree. I know you through the Song of the Turtle Dove, The peahen and the parrot. You haunt me with these glimpses through Birds. You continually elude my gaze Through your actors on your stage of Love. These Songs herald the Atoms of your Original Form. The acid of lucidity melts away these fleeting birds Whose songs are merely signatures of Your Presence O Jamal, thou art Luminosity itself. Bid your actors now take off their makeup. I behold You beyond the masks of God. O Jamal, what are these wondrous trees That you have led me to, What are these mystical flowers Which speak with the voices of Parrots? Who sing with the songs of Nightingales? And what are these miraculous Trees That I see standing before me? Who but Allah Could have written on every leaf? My new unspeakable name? Copyright (C) Michael Mathias, Collected Works, 1993-2005
