The earth and the far-flung sky Are within Thee. But Thou hast entered through the ear Into my heart and remainest there ever. Think of it, Lord of the discus That savours the blood of evil ones, Who can know who is greater, Thou or I?

Commentary by Ivan M. Granger
Entering "through the ear" is a poetic translation, but a bit misleading. This is actually a reference to the inner sound heard in stillness. Usually the sound is identified with the base of the skull, not specifically the ear.
The yogi first hears this sound, and it ultimately leads the awareness into the Divine Presence seated within the heart.
