In those days

by Fakhruddin Iraqi

English version by William Chittick and Peter Lamborn Wilson
Original Language Persian/Farsi

In those days
     before a trace
of the two worlds,
     no "other" yet imprinted
on the Tablet of Existence,
     I, the Beloved, and Love
lived together
     in the corner
of an uninhabited
     cell.

-- from Fakhruddin Iraqi: Divine Flashes (Classics of Western Spirituality) , Translated by William Chittick / Translated by Nasr Seyyed Hossein
