\na pathway to you.<\/p>\n

There\u2019s no stone,
\nno flower \u2014
\nnot a single piece of straw \u2014
\nlacking your existence.<\/p>\n

In every particle of the world,
\nthe moon of your love
\ncauses the heart

When I first discovered this poem I instantly fell in love with it.<\/p>\n

Not a single soul lacks
\na pathway to you.<\/i><\/p>\n

This simple statement is so profoundly healing to the questing human heart. <\/p>\n

In a world that places so many demands upon us, in which we pile up our own countless goals and deadlines, it becomes all too easy to feel lost and separated from the Divine. But it is never so\u2026<\/p>\n

There\u2019s no stone,
\nno flower \u2014
\nnot a single piece of straw \u2014
\nlacking your existence.<\/i><\/p>\n

The pathway is to simply and entirely recognize the divine existence already present. <\/p>\n

We imagine Herculean efforts are required, isolation, smothering asceticism, travels to exotic lands. We forget that the holiest place we can discover is immediately behind the breastbone.<\/p>\n

Every effort, in the end, is to reach exhaustion, until we are finally too tired to continue telling ourselves stories about our lives. Finally, finally we fall silent. Finally, we witness ourselves as we are.<\/p>\n

What we discover leaves us speechless.<\/p>\n

In every particle of the world,
\nthe moon of your love
\ncauses the heart
\nof each atom to glow.<\/i><\/p>\n

Every effort, the entire pathway, leads to precisely one step: a step out of the way. That\u2019s when real opening occurs, and it is effortless. The love and light already present blossom within the heart. And every atom, all the universe, is lit up with us.<\/p>\n

Mulla Muhammad Shirin Maghribi was a hugely influential Sufi poet, as well as a world-traveler and a student of the great Sufi philosopher ibn Arabi.<\/p>\n

The name Maghribi refers to the Mahgrib region of northwest Africa around Morocco, but Maghribi was actually born in Persia. Some sources state he was born in Tabriz, while others say he was born in the village of Ammand near Lake Urumiya. He picked up the nickname Maghribi because he famously journeyed through the Mahgrib region of North Africa.<\/p>\n

Maghribi is said to have received illumination during an arba\u2019een (a Shi\u2019a religious gathering in honor of Husayn) under the guidance of his spiritual sheikh.<\/p>\n

Much of Maghribi\u2019s poetry elucidates the Sufi notion of Unity of Being. The style and focus of Maghribi\u2019s poetry is sometimes compared with Shabistari\u2019s, another great Persian Sufi poet. Maghribi\u2019s poetry in turn, influenced the styles of other Sufi poets, such as Shah Nimatullah Vali.<\/p>\n

Maghribi\u2019s poetry has had such resonance that many of his poetic utterances have become popular proverbs in Persian.<\/p>\n
