{"id":8478,"date":"2024-09-30T11:25:35","date_gmt":"2024-09-30T18:25:35","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.poetry-chaikhana.com\/blog\/?p=8478"},"modified":"2024-09-30T11:30:32","modified_gmt":"2024-09-30T18:30:32","slug":"a-note-on-the-hurricanes-and-floods","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.poetry-chaikhana.com\/blog\/2024\/09\/30\/a-note-on-the-hurricanes-and-floods\/","title":{"rendered":"A note on the hurricanes and floods"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>I made the mistake of waking up and sending out the Rumi poem this morning without first glancing at the news \u2014 and therefore I made no mention of the terrible flooding and devastation in the wake of Hurricane Helene.  <\/p>\n<p>And I should also acknowledge of the escalating violence by and around Israel, now directed against Lebanon. The likelihood of a regional war increases with each new provocation. <\/p>\n<p>These sorts of terrible and terrifying events remind us that we can no longer take old certainties and securities for granted.
