The Tavern

by Chris McCombs

Original Language English

We have all been drinking
At the same tavern

Now drunk
On the deep red wine
That only the Heart
Can make

We have been
Passing the cup around
But it is only getting fuller

Sacred letters are written
On its rim
But no one is left
To read them

Just the drinking
And the drowning
